Ah, November! The month of thankfulness, continuing cold weather, that smell of fall that happens when you open the door and take a deep breath. A great time for us to remember some of the greatest things in life- like the adventures we take when reading a book, hanging with friends, or visiting great programs.

In our Libratory, we have our new Maker's Space and we are challenging the students and staff monthly with projects. This month is a crazy, busy month at our Maker's Space, but hopefully a good kind of crazy, busy.
We have four challenges ready to go!
** In honor of National Aviation Month (November), we are having an Aviation challenge. Students and staff will build their paper airplanes, either from their own resources or using one of our templates. The plane that flies the best will win the challenge.
** In honor of Thanksgiving, we will have an appreciation station. Here, students will be able to create a thank you card or record a thank you podcast for people who are important in their lives.
** In honor of the first hockey mask made, we are also doing a Hockey Mask Challenge. In this challenge, students and staff will be given the opportunity to design a hockey goalie mask for their favorite team or just for themselves.
While we are looking forward the the Maker's Space Challenges, we also can't wait for exciting learning. This month, collaborative classes will be learning about things like Feature Articles and the importance of digging deep to tell the story. They will also be learning about a great tool for life-long learning, not to mention high school and college research- Databases. We partner with Jefferson County Public Library to access a myriad of useful, insightful databases that can make researching any topic easier.
Speaking of Jeffco Public Libraries....Jefferson County Public Library always offer great programs for teens. This month at Ss, tandley Lake Library, they have some fabulous activities! They have two movie events. The first is on Friday, November 6 at 6pm and it is Jurassic World. On Saturday, November 21 at 2pm, Terminator Genisys will be shown. This is a 6-12 grade only event. On November 14th at 2pm, the library is holding a creative session on Dream Catchers and you will get to make one during the session. Anime club will also be happening on November 15th at 2pm, so if you're someone who enjoys Japanese comics, check this out.
As always, if you have not gotten your public library card, see me because this card is the key to adventures, activities and unknown worlds.
So, come on in for some creative space and community building! And don't forget to visit Standley Lake for some adventure with new people!
