The countdown to midnight..10..9...8...7..... and it's a new year! All of the excitement and enchantment of the holidays begins to fade as the reality that we are in January starts. For whatever reason, January tends to be just a blah month.
However, there is also an opportunity of greatness. The new year offers a chance to start new projects, renew some goal we let fall to the wayside the year before. There's an opportunity to build stronger relationships with friends and family.
This month, the Libratory is filled with some great happenings. First, on Wednesday, January 13th from 6-7pm, we will have our second Parent Technology Boot Camp where we will be running two sessions: one on Parent Schoology and Parent Portal; the other on Cyberbullying and Sexting, and student sessions on Google Research Tool, Parent Schoology, and Plickers. We also have two major class events coming up. One is with Mrs. Gregoire's class focusing on Runaway Slaves. The second is with Mrs. Loftus's class focusing on a project-based lesson using past tense and cities. Both are going to be very interactive and exciting to hear how the students solve their particular problems.
As for me, I'm gearing up for the Goodreads 2016 Reading Challenge. The reading challenge is a way for you to set a goal and reach the number of books you can read in a year. If you are unfamiliar with Goodreads, I highly recommend you check it out. It is across device platforms, so you are able to access it either through apps or through internet. It allows you to record the books that you have read, the ones you want to read, and the ones you are currently reading. They also have recommendations based on your interests. It is a great site for those of us who are book lovers. This year for my 2016 Reading Challenge, I've chosen to read 80 books for the year. Currently, I've read 5 books in that challenge, so I'm feeling pretty confident that I'll meet my challenge.
So, what are your goals? How are you planning on reaching them?
